What the guide is

A free downloadable PDF sewing guide (37 A4 pages) by In Selene’s Light, explaining how one layered gothic ball gown was made. It’s a made-to-measure construction guide, not a multi-size printable pattern, and it’s shared as a record of one maker’s project with standard sewing methods added.

Your licence

You may download, print and use the guide to make gowns for yourself or as a gift. You’re welcome to share a link to this website. Please don’t sell the guide, upload the file elsewhere, or reuse its photos and diagrams without permission.

Using the guide safely

Results depend on your measurements, fabrics, equipment and sewing experience. Please read each step before you start, test techniques on scraps, check measurements before cutting, and follow the safety notes in the guide, especially about keeping the finished gown away from candles and open flames. Fabric amounts, times and costs in the guide are estimates.

No guarantees

The guide is provided free and “as is”. We take care to make it accurate, but we can’t promise it’s free of errors or suitable for your body, fabrics or skill level, and you use it at your own risk. We aren’t responsible for wasted materials, costs or other losses from using it. Nothing here limits liability that can’t legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
